He Tianjian, as a representative of the Shanghai painting style is one of the most important painters in the20th century. He has certain achievements in both of the coloring of landscape painting and art theory. He did deep research of tradition, his style of magnificence and combining the north and south dominated at one time and was outstanding in the style of coloring.This thesis analyses the cause of He Tianjian’s the coloring of landscape paintings’ formation through his learning, improvement of Chinese painting and the establishment of new China painting. Try to find the He Tianjian’s inheritage and development of Chinese painting through his the coloring of landscape painting.Although He Tianjian wasn’t up to the height of a master, but from his art experience, he absorbs the advantages from the tradition, his achievement through the deep research of painting method adds up to an important part of Chinese painting. In this article the author hopes to contribute to He Tianjian’s unique color ink, writing form and artistic conception according to his the coloring of landscape painting, so as to promote the research of He Tianjian. Surpassing the tradition on the basis of inheritage is the problem of creation of Chinese painting art, also the problem of the art development’s process today. In this aspect, this article also has a certain positive significance in the creation of landscape painting at present.
