The Study Of Contemporary College Students’ Consumption Ethics Problem In China

In China, with the strengthening of the global economic integration and thedevelopment of the overall economic and social situation, people’s forms and patternsof consumption have changed a lot. Despite the overall consumption level and qualitywere improved, some unreasonable consumption and waste still can be foundeverywhere in our daily life. The unscientific patterns of consumption caused greatdestruction of our social atmosphere and environment, besides they also constantlychallenged our ethical and moral bottom line. As a special group, Chinesecontemporary college students are also affected by consumerism, they consumeirrational, luxury and blindly, which caused many problems of consumption ethics.When we investigate the reason, we could find that it is mainly due to the collegestudents’ consumption ethics deviated from a scientific, moderate and right track. Inorder to know how to make college students set up the correct consumption ethics,reversing their irrational consuming behavior, the author have used the basic principleof ethics, and other subject knowledge to lucubrate the contemporary college students’consumption ethics problem. In the perspective of society, individual, family, college,etc, combined with the feature of college students’ consumption ethics and sorting outconsumption ethics in Confucianism and Mohism, the author want to find sometheoretical and practical countermeasures to solve the problems of contemporarycollege students’ consumption ethics in our country.As a kind of moral norms, consumption ethics have a rich connotation. Inaddition to the standard connotation and times connotation, which are very commonin the general consumer ethics, college students’ consumption ethics also have thepractice meaning. College students’ consumption ethics should not only adapt to thesocial economic development, consistent with the direction of the social culturaldevelopment, but also benefit the harmonious of natural environment and socialenvironment. The trend of college students’ consumption has changed from payingattention to the quality, making plan and conformity consumption in the past, to thebrand consumption, the credit consumption and the personalized consumption today. During the trend, the college students’ consumption of the moderation, harmony andjustice slowly changed to the bad direction. So to change this adverse variation, wenot only need to explore from the college students’ own personality and values, butalso change the social, school and family environment. College students is a group ofvibrant young people, when they set up the correct consumption view and have aharmonious, scientific, moderate and low carbon consumption, our society andcountry will be better and prosperous in the future.The purpose of this article is to find the reasons that why the college students’consumption is not harmonious, moderate, fair and confident. To be clear on thequestion, the author carefully analyzes the problems of the college students’consumption ethics. By analyzing the reasons, the author wants to seek for thestrategies which can solve the problems of college students’ consumption ethics. Then,the author found that these reasons come from the personal factors and social factorsincluding politics, economy, culture etc. Starting from the personal factors, the bestway is self-education. Confucianism, Mohism, Jean Baudrillard’s symbol theory andother consumption ethics could be a good textbook. Only in this way, could we wakenthe abstinence of contemporary college students. As for the social factors, if weoptimize the social, family, school environment, we could create a favorablecircumstance in which college students would cultivate their correct consumptionethics.By using dialectical materialism, historical materialism and comparative analysismethods, this paper discusses the concept, present situation, problems and reasons ofcollege students’ consumption ethics, also gives some advice on the situation. In thestudy, the author found that the correct college students’ consumption ethics wouldimprove their comprehensive quality and cultivate favorable outlook on life, valuesand world outlook. College students’ consumption ethics and behaviors can have astrong demonstration effect on other social groups, even impact the whole society’sconsumption idea and the economic and cultural development direction. Onlyadhering to the correct consumption view and moderate behaviors, will the collegestudents’ consumption and moral life be more scientific and harmonious. All in all, this article wants to advocate a relatively moderate consumption ethics, neither charynor luxurious. The consumption ethics is practical, consistent with the developmenttendency of economy and culture. So they will also be the trend of the contemporarycollege students’ consumption ethics in China.
