With the improvement of China’s international status, exchanges of Sino-foreigneconomic and cultural are more widely. Chinese, as one of the communicationlanguage mediums, has gradually entered the world arena, more and more foreignpeople started to learn Chinese. Because Chinese has the characteristics ofMulti-homophone and Multi-phonogram, Chinese characters become a majorproblem faced by Chinese learners, especially to grasp similar-shaped-characters, ismore difficult for Chinese learners, usually leading to wrongly written characters dueto poor grasping of similar-shaped-characters.This article takes HSK dynamic composition corpus hosted by Professor CuiXiliang from Beijing Language and Culture University as a platform, and takes thewrongly written characters in the corpus as the object of the statistics and analysis. The statistics found, that similar-shaped-and-pronounced-characters andsimilar-shaped-deferent-pronounced-characters account for a large proportion of thewrongly written characters; Chinese learners of different nationalities and levels havedifferent expressions in forms of wrongly written similar-shaped-characters. For theabove, I conducted a comprehensive analysis, and investigated the reason whichcauses wrongly written similar-shaped-characters. The analysis shows that, on onehand, wrongly written similar-shaped-characters relate to the characteristics ofChinese characters, especially from a structural point of view, the component factors are important reason which affects the wrongly written similar-shaped-characters. Onthe other hand, learners from both Chinese cultural circle and non-Chinese culturalcircle have a high average number of errors, but average number of errors whichlearners from Chinese cultural circle made is less than that made by learners fromnon-Chinese cultural circle. In addition, the higher level the characters learnerspossess, the less mistakes they made, conversely the higher. Taking all these factors, about the teaching of similar-shaped-characters of Chinese as a Foreign Language, Ipropose the following: emphasize teaching of the relationship ofsimilar-shaped-characters in shape, pronunciation and meaning; emphasize teachingof Chinese character components; emphasize combination of listening, speaking, reading and writing; differentiated instruction for learners of different culturalbackgrounds; teach in phases according to the learners’ learning level.
