The domestic and foreign research shows that family education has the significance andimpact on students’ academic adjustment. As a family education activity with culture,parent-child reading is an important part of the system of family education, it reflects the conceptof parenting, parenting behavior and parenting styles; parent-child reading has a direct role toimprove students’ language ability and the understanding, imagination, reasoning ability. Thereading contains rich social life content and affective factors, it can help children believe inthemselves and make progress by themselves. This research took the326students of Grade Twofrom XueCHeng District Experimental Primary School of Zaozhuang, Shandon province assubjects, makes surveys by using parent—child reading test and learning adaptability test,systematically investigated the relation between the parent-child reading activities and theacademic adaptation, put forward the corresponding educational suggestions. This research hasrevealed the following:1. Dimensions in parent-child reading: the will of reading scored highest, followed byreading purpose, reading communication.2.Each dimensions of parent-child reading in students’ gender on main effects are notsignificant; in shared reading will dimension, parents’ gender on main effects is significant,mother behaves higher than father significantly. In reading will, reading communication andshared reading score, students’ gender and parents’ gender interaction significantly, whenstudents for female, mother’s score is significantly higher than father.3. Parents with higher educational background, reading will, reading communication andthe total of the reading share higher scores. Parents who have got high school education orcollege education share the higher score significantly than the low educational level of parents. 4. In the reading will, reading communication and the total score of the reading, parentswho have stable occupation score higher than those who have unstable occupation, the status ofthe parents’ occupation has a significant effect on the shared reading will.5. Dimensions in learning adaptability test, the scores of the Grade Two students from highto low are learning methods, perseverance and independence, learning attitude.6. The independence, dimensions of perseverance and overall academic of the learningadaptability test, students’ gender effects were significant, specific performance: the girls scoredsignificantly higher than boys in perseverance, independence and overall academic.7. In the overall academic adaptation, parental gender effect reached significant level,female parent has greater effect than male parents to the Grade Two students.8. The shared reading will, reading purpose, reading communication and shared readingscores are positively related with the students’ achievement.9. In parent-child reading, the total score of the shared reading has significant positiveeffects on the Grade Two students’ achievement.
