With the growth of China’s national strength and the improvement of internationalstatus, China is getting more frequent and closer relationship with the world. As animportant medium of interaction, Chinese language and its profound cultural meaningimplied is gradually being attached great importance by the world. As one of the mostpotential group of Chinese language learning, it is necessary to take into seriousconsideration on the study of Chinese learning strategies used by African students.Under such background, this paper is scheduled as follows: First we carefully sort outthe theories and concepts in the study of learning Chinese as a second language. Nextthrough quantitative research, we analyze the main characteristics of Chinese learningstrategy applied by this group. And then by analyzing the semi-structured interviews,we make a detailed analysis on the difficulties and obstacles in the learning strategies,which they have adopted in Chinese listening, oral speaking, reading and writing. Onthe basis of the above analysis, we conclude that we should hold the idea of teachingin learning strategies, instead of the traditional way of teaching learning skills.Meanwhile, we provide directing recommendations which are aimed at personalizedlearning strategies of African students group.Through the above comprehensive research and analysis, this paper tries toestablish an integrated research system and framework on Chinese learning strategyused by African students. Meanwhile, it will make a difference on specific teachingperformance on African students’ Chinese language learning.
