Naito Konan’s "Manchukuo" Construction Scheme

The estabilishment of "manchukuo" puppet regime was an important step for Japanese imperialism to impel the "mainland policy", which indicated the initial implementation of the whole aggression ambition. Influenced by the social mores ethos, some scholars also became involved in participated in the "manchukuo" construction and Naito Konan was one of the representatives. Though copious in studies and remarks concerning Sino-studies contributed by Naito Konan among academic field, there’s a lack in terms of his "manchukuo" construction proposals. Therefore, this paper presents certain research significance and there lies why this paper comes into being.This paper consists of the parts as follows:First,"manchu" complex within Naito Konan. This part will sort out his Naito Konan’s life course and analyze why he was concerned about "manchu" issues.Second, Independence fallacy of the northeast of China from China in five aspects. This part will center around his fallacies to separate China from such five aspects as "conflicts between Man and Han ethnicity","the financial crisis of the central government ","theory that China doesn’t need national defense construction","Chinese possession of too vast territory ","protection of local China"Third,"munchukuo" construction proposals by Naito Konan. This covers the focal and difficult points, mainly expounding upon the specific contents in his "munchukuo" construction proposals, which echoed with the propaganda that Japanese government would convert "munchukuo" into "benevolent paradise". He even advocated materialization of republicanism, promoted Nippon-Man cooperation, and contributed ideas for the sake of cultural education and civil affairs, in the hope of obscuring the aggression ambition and winning trust among "munchu" people.Fourth, conclusion. There follows remarks as regards Naito Konan and his "munchukuo" construction proposals.Naito Konan, a standing representative that lingered outside Japanese government, has enjoyed great reputation in academic field. He attempted to give advice to Japanese imperialist aggression by means of assumed academic research. This paper, with "munchukuo" construction proposals as a cutting point, tries to reveal the essence of colonialism he meant to defend for Japanese invaders under the cover of "Asianism" by analyzing the real aggression intent under the slogan of "munchu construction"...
