Research On Naito Konan’s Theory Of “Cultural Center Moving”

Naito Konan was a famous Sinologist in Japan with remarkable academic achievements.This paper mainly studies the theory of "cultural center moving" proposed by Naito konan.After investigating the relevant contents and theories,it tries to judge Naito’s main historical thoughts from the perspective of "Chinese cultural view" and "political purpose" displayed by Naito.The first part carefully combs Naito’s personal experience and historical background.Through sorting out Naito’s sinology education in his childhood,his experience as a journalist for a long time in middle age and his academic research in university in his later years,this paper clarifies the basic thread of the formation of Naito’s Hunan historiography thought.The second part explores and analyzes the related theories and concepts of "the mobile theory of cultural center".On the basis of clarifying Hunan Naito’s basic views on Chinese culture and Japanese culture,this paper analyzes the theoretical source of the theory of "cultural center moving",and explores the definition of "cultural center" and the connotation of "cultural center moving".The third part probes into the characteristics of The Times of Naito’s theory of the movement of cultural center by examining the theory of the movement of cultural center,the Japanese "duty" and the "movement of cultural center" in the new political theory.At the same time,this paper explores the Chinese cultural view in his theory and reveals the "dual characteristics" in his theory."The theory of cultural center movement" is a new view of Sino-Japanese culture and history put forward by Hunan Naito in the new era of Sino-Japanese relations.This theory reflects Naito’s outlook on the future Sino-Japanese relations,showing Naito’s unique historical perspective and profound historical thoughts.However,it can not be ignored that the core of this theory is actually the Japanese cultural superiority theory,even implied expansionism.In the era of Japanese group nationalism,even though Hunan Naito is a fan of Chinese culture,it will inevitably slip into the abyss of nationalism.
