Influence Of Rusticated Youth Memories On Wang An-yi’s Novelistic Creation

Since1960s the movement of Up to Mountain and Down to Countryside had became apolitical movement of the young generation, then a large number of educated young graduallybecame the main stream of China’s literary field thus the rusticated youth life memories werehidden in literary works, which endowed writers with rusticated youth identity a specialty andbecame a unique and important resource for writers’ creation. Literary creation of the periodreflected rusticated youth life had also become an important way of people’s memories ofexperiences in the history period. Wang Anyi had rural life experience as having severed as one rusticated youth inAnhui and her writing style changed in different period. Her early works mainly expressedpersonal feeling and loneliness of rural life as a rusticated youth, such as novels of Wenwenseries; In Root Searching Period, the writer tried to interpret countryside from the traditionculture point of view, thus Chinese-style myth Bao Town came into being; In Post-rootsearching Period, Wang Anyi began to explore Ideologies of modernization via remindingherself of countryside firstly, where many youth with modern thinking were limited bytraditional concept, and got their feeling and affection out of chest in an extreme wayreflected in the “Three Love”(Three novels about Love-Love in a Small Town, Love on aBarren Mountain, Love in Jinxiu Valley). When New Realistic Period emerged, Wang Anyiturned her eyes to Shanghai, the metropolis of China, and what was the city like? Full ofnanny, cadres and peasants came from countryside so Wang Anyi is a special writer withrusticated youth identity, which are also the starting point of the paper.Throughout Wang Anyi’ s whole novel creation and comparing to various literary trendsof the different periods the thesis analyzed how the rusticated youth memory manifested inher works and what were their literature value. This paper try to analyze the influence ofWang Anyi’s rusticated youth memory on her literature creation from three aspects:“Out ofShanghai”,“Rusticated Youth Age”, rusticated youth memory in Wang Anyi’s novel creationappeared in a hidden way, and revelation of Wang Anyi’s novel creation under the influenceof rusticated youth memory. Chapter one “Out of Shanghai” and “Rusticated Youth Age” discussed the life experience as rusticated youth and its characteristics during late60s andearly80s. Chapter two “rusticated youth memory in Wang Anyi’s novel creation appeared inthe hidden way” analysis Wang Anyi’s rusticated youth memory hiding manner. In ScarLiterature Period, Wang Anyi’s novels reviewed rusticated youth period respectively showedthe ideal double shattered; in Root-Searching literature Period, Wang Anyi rusticated youthnarration were full of rural imagination; next, Wang Anyi’s exploration of sexual awareness inlittle towns-the Three Love; in New Historicists period, Wang Anyi’s rusticated youthnarration presented identity anxiety of heterogeneous memory; in the new century of Chineseliterature, Wang Anyi’s memory of rusticated youth integrated in the countryside beautyfinding. Through the above analysis it made her rusticated youth memory construction wasdifferent from the main thinking trends of literature creation.
