Harmonic development has a very long history and never seem to cease. During eachperiod in the long history, harmonic language plays an important role in connecting them.Vienna Classical Music, represented by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, Created acomplete, standardized, rigorous and sound language system and Established a solidfoundation of the structure of the main theme music during the long history. The existenceand development of anything has its historical inevitability, so does harmony Thedevelopmernt and exisence of it has its own historical reason. The aim of the thesis is to makea comparative study on the harmony vocabulary used in the creation of the piano sonatas ofthree excellent musicians-Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven to analyze the context andevolution of the harmonic language of this period of development from the perspective ofdevelopment of history. Besides, the thesis reviews the creation, development of harmony inthis period and the process of how it develops into Romantic harmonic language.Only from the perspective of the historical development to study the classical harmonytheory in Vienna, we can use a more comprehensive and dynamic manner to get to know andunderstand the classical harmony. Only when we understand classical harmony can we applyclassical harmonic theory to serve our musical performance and musical creation.
