Study And Analysis On Erhu Concerto "The Soul Of Snow Mountain"

As a professional composer, Mr Liu Wenjin has enriched the erhu art with passion and new energy to the ultimate excellence, and it marked a tremendous achievement since China’s Economic reform and opening for the past thirty years. The rapid development and the popularity of Erhu Art is, by all means, directly related to Mr. Liu Wenjin’s contribution. Mr. Liu Wenjin has been fully committed to composing national music with creativity and innovation illustrated by his series of folk Music compositions, which has laid solid footprints in Chinese National Music history. His works have widened the horizon of Chinese national music composition in term of integrating the Western Music Elements into Chinese music Genre, and "The Soul Snow Mountain" is one of the typical examples.This paper is composed based on the overall academic research on the development of Erhu Art, and much of the observations and inspirations in this paper is greatly related to the writer’s personal experience in her past10years’with Chinese Music Conservatory of Music and with her own performances on this master piece. Hence, this paper is conceived with the combined elements of academic research and the writer’s personal artistic experience. This paper intends to analyze and explore this master piece by dividing into4main parts covering cultural background, artistic transitions, special characteristics and contemporary significance, etc.
