Animation has certain culture attribute and bears the mission of culturalinheritance, which has huge power that surpasses nationalities and races and hasbecome the universal language and pictures around the world. Animation is anew technology as well and serves for the innovation and development oftraditional cultures. In the present world with constant development of economicglobalization, globalization in the field of culture has been carrying forward tooand crisis of ecological environment of human culture has abruptly arisen at thesame time. Cultural traditions, such as languages, literatures and arts, customsand religions, have great power of infiltration and dissemination. Animation, as arepresentative of China’s new culture industry, has got more attentions from thecountry and has currently risen to a national culture strategy.Chinese animation, such as wash cartoon, shadow play and paper-cut,combining with special elements in China’s traditional cultures has formed itsown style, the so-called "Chinese School", and background materials usuallycome from famous history and classic books, folklore, etc. The Chinese cartooncontains rich cultural connotation and unique national aesthetic spirit, and hasbecome classics in the world art history with its distinctive national art style.Time can wash away anything without solid foundations while carry theclassics forward to the future.Observation of present days should draw on the experience of the pasthistory; no past history, no present days. How to carry on and innovate withregard to “Chinese School” and “nationalization”, how to display Chinese localand traditional cultures during creating modern animated cartoons, how to inherit and absorb the essence of traditional culture and art, create animation withunique “Chinese characteristics” nationalization, provide endless intellectualsupports for the continuity of this road, and build national and cultural brands arethe major subjects that contemporary cartoon designers have to face. Through theabove researches and analyses, this paper excavates national elements ofanimation arts from the national and traditional treasure collection of arts,combines modern concepts to express and innovate, and applies to contemporarycartoon creation. After comparing and analyzing the Chinese School withAmerican and Japanese animations, the paper analyzes characteristics during theprocess of nationalization of Chinese cartoon creation, combines and collectseverything good, and deeply analyzes the ways of inheritance and display fromChinese excellent traditional cartoons, absorbs and utilizes everything useful, andthen discusses concrete practice and methods of nationalization from art contentsand art forms, and creates our own national brands by carrying on national spiritsand eastern styles.In the end, the paper analyzes the shortcomings of Chinese cartoon creation,offers several proposal regarding the ways of promoting nationalization ofanimation industry in China and seeks the right path to develop and implementnationalization of Chinese cartoon on the basis of contemporary spirits, sociality,and nationalization. China’s animated cartoon should firmly walk on the road of“China’s characteristics” nationalization, and accomplish history mission andbear responsibility of inheritance and innovation of Chinese culture.
