The Research On Taoist Political Ideology In The Late Tang Dynasty

With the establishment, prosperous and death of the Tang Dynasty, Taoism has beeninextricably associated with this Dynasty. Despite Wu Zetian advocated to Taoism, Taoism’spolitical philosophy has always been regarded as “the rule of ruling country” which respectedand beloved by the governor, activating in the political stage. With the Sharp Socialcontradictions, social crisis and tribulation of people’s lives in late Tang Dynasty, it tended tocrumble under the impact of the revolt of Huang Chao which led this dynasty from theprosperity to ultimately doomed. Yet the dominator did not reduce the passion for Taoism bythe social changeable. In spite of keeping comply with the Taoist “the rule of govern countrywithout any active approaches and go nature”, they were pursuing more about the longevityand searching for the perpetual life after death.This paper will associate with the basic viewpoint of the political philosophy of Taoismand the late Tang Dynasty’s society. Moreoverit will emphasizeto discuss the social environment of the late Tang Dynasty Taoist political philosophy and thetheoretical conditions. Furthermore, it will reveal that the worldview of the late Tang dynastyTaoist philosophy of “Dao”,(the way of nature)“Transform”, and deeply explore to theideology of " the rule of govern and self-cultivate" in the late Tang Dynasty. In addition to this,it also explain in details about the connotation of philosophy, for instance,"people are thefoundation of the country"," all citizens have food to share"," advocate to thrift","denygovernor"" deny sage""deny cultivate by courtesy and music". On this basis, this paper willanalysis Taoist political philosophy in the late Tang Dynasty which built on the generalapproaches and worldview, such as " Natural way"," the rule of self-discipline and country",itbased on the natural and “the rule of govern country without any active approaches and gonature” by the ideal political philosophy of the political and society.In conclusion, it will summary two of the characteristics of the political philosophy inthe late Tang Dynasty,which had the profound impacts on the late Taoism theoretical Underthe background of the construction and harmony society, the political philosophy of Taoisthave significant impacts on society. However, the related systematic summary papers about this period are still in the blank. Therefore, expecting this paper could has some subtleinfluence on Chinese traditional political philosophy and the political philosophy of Taoist.
