The title of this paper is “Study on the relationship between the Articles and Politics of theLate-Tang Dynasty--the parallel prose of Li Shangyin and the essays which stabbed the worldby three writers in Late-Tang Dynasty as the center”. This article makes the two majortributaries of the Late-Tang Dynasty “parallel prose and essay” which reflected therelationship between literature and politics adequately as the object to do comparative study.The two different styles of literature genre have significant meaning and value when wediscuss the relationship between the articles and politics of the Late-Tang Dynasty. Parallelprose was the literature style which reflected the interaction of literature and politics and itshowed the culture of the vested interests political circles. Correspondingly, essay was theliterature style which reflected the conflict between literature and politics. Also, it wasopposed to the ornate literary aestheticism. With sharp insight and political consciousness asthe foundation, it reached very high achievement in the field of literature and art.The full text is divided into six chapters. The first chapter, as the introduction part, putsforward a few views and carries on the concrete discussion. At the same time, it reviews theresearch achievements related to this topic, and explains the basic ideas and methods, as wellas the research purpose and significance of this article. The second chapter discusses thepolitical situation and social change of the Late-Tang Dynasty, to provide political and socialbackground to explore the subject "the relationship between article and the politics." Thethird chapter, on the basis of the political environment which was suggested by the secondchapter, further discusses the two big trend of the articles in Late-Tang Dynasty, namely proseand essay. The fourth chapter, taking Li Shangyin’s prose as example, introduces his life,literary thoughts and proses, focusing on the interaction between the articles and politics inthe Late-Tang Dynasty. The fifth chapter, taking Luo Yin, Pi Rixiu, Lu Guimeng as example,introduces their life, literary thought and their essays which stabbed the world, focusing onthe conflict between the articles and politics of the Late-Tang Dynasty. The sixth chaptercompares the similarities and differences between the two kinds of articles and their authors,inspecting the two kinds of articles and their authors’ different attitude towards politics andthe ideological differences from two aspects “political participation” and “literary creation”.The last part is the conclusion, summarizing the main contents of each chapter. In addition, it puts forward the unsolved problems and shortcomings to leave adequate leeway for laterstudy.
