There is a highly distinct regional characteristic for the distribution of Chinese Wooden-arched Corridor Bridge, which is mainly seen in the northeast of Fujian province and the southwest of zhejiang province. Since2009, Chinese Traditional Technology for the Construction of Wooden-arched Bridge has been included in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding. In2012,the bridge was reserved as part of the government’s group of relics for the intended declaration of World Cultural Heritage. It is thus clear that the system of Wooden-arched Bridge actually plays double roles both as intangible cultural heritage and physical cultural heritage,of which the wooden arch embodies the unique construction art.and the corridor bridge itself refers to the practical and cultural functions in our lives.Literally, the construction technology is intangible, while the bridge itself embodies its physical nature; ideologically.the Wooden-arched Corridor Bridge, with all its cultural functions, has long served as local core cultural sites and is always regarded as the local people’s collective identity and spiritual sustenance. Therefore, only proper preservation of this wooden bridge system and its construction technology can ensure the sustainability of the deeper cultural connotation, which has a significant impact on the local people’s life and heritage protection.Nevertheless, with the development of our society, its main functions in transport and culture are on the decline. So,as time goes by,how to safeguard and guarantee its continuation of this precious legacy and let it better serve local communities have been a top priority.also a meaningful subject for the present generation. The paper.in general, takes the cultural ecology theory as its theoretic basis.together with the changing outlook of the functional school of the cultural anthropology, and it adopts the principle of protecting intangible cultural heritage as a whole as its working guideline.Regarding the present survival situation and safeguarding modes of the wooden-arched bridges, and the local neighborhoods where they are located,a field study was conducted in Pingnan County.Fujian Province.According to the statistics collected, the paper is mainly concerned with the difficulties and problems found in the process of building and safeguarding and inheriting.aiming at seeking out the special interactive relationship from the key factors among the bridges, the related communities and the whole cultural ecological system, meanwhile,in quest of the feasibilities and best approaches for the overall safeguarding of the traditional construction technology of Chinese wooden-arched bridge.
