Nowadays, it is a widely known fact that foreign language teaching can not be reduced to direct teaching of linguistic skills. Learning a language also involves learning the culture that language reflects and interprets. Therefore, it has been universally accepted that foreign language teaching is closely linked to intercultural competence. English writing, as the reflection of comprehensive skill of using English, should fully represent the connection in its teaching process.The thesis first reviews the studies on teaching writing both at home and abroad. In order to improve the current situation of college English writing course in China, the thesis puts forward the Intercultural Language Teaching Approach, including its basic principles and techniques that English writing classroom could adhere to. In the part of empirical study, the teaching experiment involves75students from two classes of a university in Shandong province, and the data of the study will be collected and analyzed so as to find out the feasibility and effectiveness of the new teaching method on English writing course.The result of this research indicates that the intercultural approach is not only good for strengthening students’confidence in writing, but also it is beneficial to excite the students" writing inspiration and accordingly greatly enrich the students" writing contents. In addition, intercultural strategy can also enliven the classroom activities and stimulate students’interests in writing. In a word, it is an efficient way of promoting students’writing skills.
