Jiang shiquan is a famous literator in the middle of Qing dynasty. He was good atpoem, Ci poetry, classical prose and drama, and made an enormous achievement inmany literary forms. TongXian Ci is the main object of this paper. Through intensivestudy on Jiang’s life experiences and his TongXian Ci, the writer tries to make anobject and impartial evaluation of Jiang Shiquan.The thesis is composed of four chapters. In the first chapter, it introducedjiangshiquan’s life experience and his important friendship. In the second chapter, itfocused on his mentoring relationship and main ideas of Ci writing. Due to hisdisposition and emotional recognition of hao fang school, Jiang’s Ci is tinted with thetraits of hao fang school. Specifically speaking, his Ci concept of following hao fangschool is obliged to Sushi and Xin Qiji in Song dynasty as well as Chen Weisong inQing dynasty. What should be specially mentioned is that his concept of Ci writing isnot isolated but related with his writing idea of other literary genre, such as poems andessays. Besides, he advocates pouring out real feelings in Ci writing withouthypocrisy and dishonesty. The third chapter discussed the rich content, various themesand long composing time of TongXian Ci. It ranges from his early youth to old ageand covers his main life experiences and emotional states. Through studying his ideal,disposition, anguish and gloom embodied in his Ci, the thesis aims to analyze Jiang’smental reins includes: his economic ideal, the song of his depression, longing forfamily happiness, the hesitation of being a hermit or not. The fourth chapter discussedthe multi-artistic expression of TongXian Ci. Jiang put the way of writing prose andbiography into Ci’s writing which greatly enhances the narrative function andexpressive force of his Ci. In his daily life, Jiang was keen on discussing andexpressing ideas directly. Consequently, his TongXian Ci forms a certain style whichis based on fluctuations and vigorousness appended with graceful resentment andunconstrained boldness.
