In this study, the special group of stay-at-home children, as generated along the process of urbanization in China, was taken as the main object to explore the influence of the sense of security and creative self-efficacy on scientific creativity. The study also take the city children and non-stay-at-home children as a control to analyze the difference between the three types of children’s sense of security, creative self-efficacy and scientific creativity. The study of scientific creativity of the stay-at-home children, on one hand, would enrich the content of the research on this special group of children in China; on the other hand, it can also provide some reference for the cultivation of creativity for children.In this study,480students of junior high school, including city children, stay-at-home children and non-stay-at-home children in the countryside, were taken part as the object. Questionnaires, interviews and other methods were used to study the status and relationships of the three types of children’s sense of security, creative self-efficacy and scientific creativity, and the main conclusions were drawn below:1. In the sense of security and all its dimensions, there were significant differences among the three types of children. The totalscore of the stay-at-home children was significantly higher than thenon-stay-at-home children while significantly lower than the citychildren. In the dimension of the interpersonal-relationship security,the score of the city children was significantly higher than thestay-at-home children, and the score of the stay-at-home childrenwas significantly higher than the non-stay-at-home children. In thedimension of the sense of certainty and control, the score of thecity children was significantly higher than the stay-at-home andnon-stay-at-home children, while there were no significantdifferences between the score of the stay-at-home children and thenon-stay-at-home children.2. In creative self-efficacy and all its dimensions, there weresignificant differences among the three types of children. In thetotal score of IC, the score of the city children was significantlyhigher than the stay-at-home and non-stay-at-home children, whilethere were no significant differences between the stay-at-home andthe non-stay-at-home children. In the dimensions of the belief in thecreativity strategies and the creative product strategies, the scoreof the city children was significantly higher than the countrychildren, while there were no significant differences between thestay-at-home and the non-stay-at-home children. In the dimension ofthe counterbalance to the negative evaluation, the score of the citychildren was significantly higher than the stay-at-home andnon-stay-at-home children, and the score of the city children wassignificantly higher than the stay-at-home and non-stay-at-homechildren. 3. In the various dimensions of the scientific creativity, therewere significant differences among the three types of children. Inthe dimension of fluency, the score of the stay-at-home children wassignificantly higher than the city children; in the dimension offlexibility, the scores of the stay-at-home children and the citychildren was significantly higher than the non-stay-at-home children.The score of the stay-at-home children in the object application wassignificantly higher than the city children. In raising questions thescore of the stay-at-home children was significantly higher than thecity children. In the improvement of the products the score of thestay-at-home children was significantly higher than the city andnon-stay-at-home children. In solving problems the score of thecity children was significantly higher than the non-stay-at-homechildren. In design of the products the score of the city children wassignificantly higher than the stay-at-home and non-stay-at-homechildren, and the score of the stay-at-home children wassignificantly higher than the non-stay-at-home children.4. After the sense of security, creative self-efficacy and theirinteraction was under control, there were significant differencesamong the three types of children in the total score of scientificcreativity. In scientific creativity, the total scores of stay-at-homechildren were significantly higher than non-stay-at-home childrenand city while there was no significant score difference betweencity children and non-stay-at-home children.5. The sense of security and the creative self-efficacy canforward predict the scientific creativity.6. Creative self-efficacy was a mediator between the sense of security and scientific creativity, which was reflected by the factthat for the children with the high creative self-efficacy and highsecurity, scientific creativity was under a greater impact, showing aclear upward trend. At the mean time, for the children with the lowcreative self-efficacy and low security, scientific creativity wasunder a small impact, showing only a slight upward trend.
