An Analysis Of The Sentence Translation Of Scientific Text With Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory

This research report is based on an excerpted part of the100,000-word translation practice required by the Foreign Language College of our school, which belongs to non-literary translation----Scientific Translation. Technology text has many characteristics different from other types of text, the engineering and ship texts also have a strong professional and practical guidance. Since most of the traditional translation theories do not have sufficient guidance to technical translation, this research report aims to apply Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory, which advocates transferring information according to the language, culture, and pragmatic forms of the target language, as a guidance for the translation of technology text; analyzing the translation skill for technology text according to the typical examples of the grammar, style, and expression habit, etc.This research report consists of four main parts. The first section is an introduction to the translation task, including text content and text type. The second section is an brief summary of the translation process, including translation plan and process. The third section, the main part of the report, describes Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory, and the difficulties and solving methods during translation. The last part is the summary to the translation practice.
