Gabriel Faure (Gabriel Fauré1845-1924) is one of the most important composersin the history of French music in nineteenth century, and he is the bridge of Frenchmusic from the nineteenth century to the twentieth century. Among his decades ofwriting career, the creation of art songs had became his main field. And throughouthis whole life, he wrote a total of more than100works, which also includes sevenvocal divertimentos, close to half of the total number of tracks. Therefore, He washailed as "French Schumann”, his elegance and simplicity of the music style becomesa wonderful treasure-house of world music. Faure’s music style was mainly revealedin his art songs. The most famous art songs among them were the "Après un rêve",and the "Clair de lune", the " LA Bonne Chanson," wrote by a set of French Symbolistpoet Paul Verlaine vocal divertimento, and so on. Faure’s bold and innovative creativeapproach foreshadowed the later impressionist music, which had a profound influenceon the younger composer of France.Faure’s musical style is elegant, delicate, honest, deep, and tactful, which fullyembodies the French nobility. Most of his works showed lofty love, and he used thegentle and moving melody to describe the music screen. He stood on the shoulders ofthe musical predecessors. With tireless exploration and innovation, he explored theresults of his harmonies color, which was eye-catching and admiration. Music in hispen was spiritual mostly.I chose Faure’s art songs as the object of study, who was the French mostrepresentative composer. I chose the method of analyzing the musical text as the mainway to study the Faure’s art songs. My study included three aspects. First, I studiedthe manifestations of French Symbolist poetry and its impact on the art songs of Faure.Second, I studied the piano accompaniment and its important position in the art songsof Faure; Third, I studied the harmony practices in the three stages of Faure Artsongwriting career. Finally, through the study of the above aspects, I made thegenerality of the summary about the topic of <Faure art songs explore>. I hope to usemy learning to maximize the mining essence of art songs of Faure, and through mymeager strength, make a reference for other researchers who want to understand thistopic.
