The Application Of Moral And Decoration Of Chinese Traditional Auspicious Patterns In Design

Chinese traditional auspicious pattern is the spiritual wealth of the long history of China and is viewed as important part of Chinese traditional culture. The elder generations created a large number of auspicious patterns attached with the moral of seeking for a good life by skillfully taking human beings, animals, flowers and birds as themes based on the experience of daily life, and these patterns play an important role in Chinese culture development progress by a special national culture symbolic significance. Auspiciousness is not only a kind of desire for happy life, but also a way to convey the mental and psychological needs, and it can increase the persuasion and expressiveness indubitably through adding the auspicious patterns to designing skillfully. This article discussed the theme classifications, allegorical methods and application of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns in designing, narrated the development history, the patterns classifications and modeling features, and summarized the decorative morals carried by the auspicious patterns with the hope to provide a significant traditional culture material for modern design. And this article points out that we should extract and innovates the traditional auspicious patterns, draw the art language of them, and create higher artistic value for the designing through analyzing and concluding the artistic characteristics of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns. This article is a tentative exploration of how to innovate designing by applying the decorative morals of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns. This article includes four parts. Part one discussed the definition of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns and the development history, which provided the feasibility for the study of this article. Part two expounded the the theme classifications and morals of Chinese traditional auspicious patterns, on the base of which the writer put forward the study content and specific application analysis. Part three analyzed the modern design’s refining and innovation on the traditional auspicious patterns, and studied the application of them in designing. Part four summarized the practical significance of the modern design mixing the decorative morals of the traditional auspicious patterns together, and attentions. It is the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional national culture to study the practical significance of applying the Chinese traditional auspicious patterns morals into modern designing. And only in this way can us truly root modern designing in national culture, gain further design development space, and create design works full of traditional culture connotation, through which we can apply the traditional artistic representative elements into modern design reasonably, reflect the national characteristic, and keep a foothold for Chinese style design forms in the world design trend.
