Reseach On Trivalent Verbs Of Contemporary Chinese Language And Related Issues

From the French linguist Lucien Tesniere introducing the concept of “valency”into grammar study, Valence Grammar theory has been achieved phasic researchresults. Above the worthy research, we will make some point about the valenceproperties and the methods of determining valency’s quantities, accordingly MengCong “Chinese verb usage dictionary”(1999edition), I do the exhaustiveinvestigation. We can get the number of trivalent verbs through comprehensive usageof reseach methods such as quantitative qualitative, description and interpretation,contrast and compare.Throughing deeply reseaching, classification to trivalent verbsand semantic and syntactic analysis can be got, so that readers have a clearerunderstanding of the body characteristics of the trivalent verbs.Chapter one describes the Chinese Valence Grammar theory and trivalent verbsresearch survey and problems, thus revealing the value and practical significance ofthis research.The second part defines the trivalent verbs, valence nature and specific methodsof determining valency’s quantities theoretically, as a guide, we get the definition oftrivalent verbs and do the exhaustive investigation according to Meng Cong "Chineseverb usage dictionary".The trivalent verbs can be meaningfully grouped into7categories.We derive trivalent verb form and lay a solid foundation for the detailedsyntax of semantic analysis.In the third part, according to the different implied of trivalent verb’s “valency”,trivalent verbs can be divided into strong dominance, middle dominance, weakdominant trivalent verbs.We define respectively and analyze them in-depthinterpretation.Part four we will have in-depth semantic syntax analysis about the7kinds oftrivalent verbs, involving the verbs and the semantic characteristics of the “valency”, the gain and loss situation of the subject and the object, the possessive relationshipbetween the verb and the “valency”, the verb’s morphological analysis, the situationabout the trivalent verbs adapting to sentence patterns, etc., and the specific analysisto the particularity of trivalent verbs.The fifth part is the analysis comparison of the trivalent verbs in Chinese andEnglish.The basic principle is one-way contrast and the basic method is starting fromthe Chinese, talking zbout Chinese corresponding trivalent verbs in English verbs,carring on the comparison between them, including their syntactic differences,valence differences, etc.In the sixth part, we get some thinking about trivalent verbs research history andpresent situation and have further conclusions on the results of our research andinnovation.The Valency theory has a long history, enjoying fruitful results and will continueto have a more in-depth and meticulous further develop.According to my ownunderstanding, we discusse in the initial system about the Valence Grammartheory.Further more, we should inherit the results, find that is insufficient, broaden thefields and explore deeply.
