Valence grammar, as part of dependency grammar, explains with the dependencestructure and the relationship between words and words, it intended to describe withwords from the view of the semantic point. The words centric reveal the relationbetween words and words, rather than to study the terms from the traditional syntacticstructure point of view, in large part to get rid of the shackles of traditional grammar.Based on previous research results of valence grammar, this thesis researches bydynamic, comprehensive views to describe verbs putting forward by scholar YuanYulin, studying the relationship between the composition of valence and semanticroles, with the semantic valence as the starting point, analyzing and describing thecollocation of semantic roles to a part of verbs in the Chinese grade vocabulary levelof Chinese words and characters level outline part. Intending to produce someinspirations in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the main part of this thesis isdivided into the following aspects:The thesis can be divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction of thebackground, the significance and value of this study, and the theoretical foundationand theoretical sources of this study. In the second part the author first introduces the background knowledge of thisstudy, and summarizes both domestic and foreign scholars’ researches. Meanwhile, the problems of present researches are put forward to provide a basic theoreticalfoundation.Based on the previous discussions, the author’s viewpoint is put forward in thethird part. In this part the author sorts out and selects grade A verbs from the LevelOutline of HSK Vocabulary and Characters, which provides a source for the laterstudy of verbs and the examples. In the fourth part, the arrangements and uses of semantic roles are analyzed andexplained, taking regularly used one-valence verbs and two-valence verbs forexamples, which under lines the solutions of Chinese-teaching problems. The last part approaches inspirations and countermeasures for Teaching Chineseas a Foreign Language from the former studies, and proposes how to guide ourteaching and to reduce bias by using these theories.
