Study On The Zhong You——the Creator Of Regular Script

Zhong You of the south dynasty known as "the creator of regular script" in China,along with Zhang Zhi,Wang Xizhi,Wang Xianzhi were respected as " the four masters of Chinese calligraphy "together with Wang Xizhi they were named as "bell king of calligraphy"Even someone said "Zhong You was the only master of calligraphy since qin and han dynasties"Because of his unique calligraphy art style and outstanding achievements of calligraphy art he occupied an important status in Chinese calligraphy art and enjoyed high honour. Oue to the lack of works left behind,it has became very difficult to know, study and research his work as compared with Wang Xizhi who left large amount of art works.This article is intended fully introduce the establishment of Zhong Yao’s calligraphy, it’s achievement,style,ideology and it’s influence in the hope it can draw someone’s attention to his calligraphy.This article consists of6parts.Chapter one introduces Zhong You’s life history,calligraphy art history,analysis and research of his works and to summarize his status in Chinese calligraphy history.Chapter two,discusses the style "eight principles of Yong"which established Zhong You as the ancestor of regular script and expound the form of regular of script.Mainly from the aspects of space composition,calligraphy of drawing and compare seal script with clerical script in order to expound the establishment of Zhong You’s creator status and maturity form of Zhong You’s calligraphy.Chapter three, analyses and researches his work,and establishes:that his distinguished style of simplicity,nature and maturity is superior in the calligraphic world.Chapter four:Along with his calligraphy style,social background,calligraphy development background and his other personal factors,a thorough research was done.The final chapter:draws on the influence of Zhong You’s works.It establishes him as a creator of regular script and a good model of regular script until ming and qing dynasties.
