Study On Pepper’s Eco-socialist Theory And Its Contemporary Value

"Modernization" and "globalization" has brought convenience to people’s material life, but it also brought a huge impact on the world’s environment, both in developed and developing countries, the ecological situation is increasingly serious. Since the last century, the west has begun to realize that the contradiction between economic development and environment. The deterioration of ecological environment has become an urgent problem for many countries, for example, global warming, water pollution, many species are facing extinction, haze phenomena, extreme weather and the worldwide natural disasters, the ecological crisis shows that the earthlings are facing life and death.In order to solve the ecological crisis, many countries are actively exploring, eco-socialist theory is produced and developed in this context, and it has gone through three stages, eco-socialist theory is widely acknowledged that:"ecological contradictions "is one of the many contradictions of capitalist society, the ecological crisis is a concrete manifestation of ecological contradictions of capitalist economic crisis. Pepper criticized the capitalism from the position of the Marxist political economy, he believes that the deep-rooted causes of the ecological crisis is the capitalist mode of production; he also criticizes the capitalist consumption patterns as well as cultural aspects.In the third section Pepper defends the socialism, he said: socialist mode of production, the political system and socialist culture are in coincidence with the ecological civilization. In the fourth part, he discusses the inheritance and development of pepper’s theory to Marxism; it is not only adhering to the Marxist and developed Marxism but also from a practical point of view, the theoretical quality with the times. Finally, it specifically addressed the ecological theory of socialism with contemporary values of our harmonious society. The essay illustrates the value from three different angles:the first is from the economic development, the second reflects in political civilization and social equity. Third, it emphasizes the importance of the nation’s awareness of ecological civilization. Only in this way can we really build a harmonious society.
