In1900, the Boxer Uprising broke out, which shocked the whole world. Nowadays, this campaign has so important research value for its large-scale, complex organizational forms, the goal of " Support the Qing, Destroy the Foreign" and huge disaster it brought. In the field of Literature, the poets at that time wrote quite a lot of poems which were based on what they saw and heard and reflected the historical appearance of GengZi Incident and the poets’thoughts and feelings. If putting all these poems together into research, we could call it as "GengZi poetic history" This paper will discuss it including6chapters.In Chapter One, the article focuses on introducing the origin and connotation of the theory of "poetic history" and elaborating the connotation of "GengZi poetry ". Section One mainly combings the process of the theory of " GengZi poetic history" and those literary theorists’elaboration to this theory. Section Two illustrates the theory of "poetic history" about its relations of the history, the sentiment and the poems and its value. Section Three concentrates on the realistic spirit that the theory of "GengZi poetic history" implies, and the characteristic such as the history of GengZi incident and the patriotic sentiment.In Chapter Two, the article introduces the classification of the poets who wrote the poems of GengZi incident and concretely analyses the historical circumstance of GengZi incident that "GengZi poetic history" reflects. Section One classifies the poets into seven types according to their main experience, which includes the Eight Banners nobility, dynasty officers of Han Race, scholars, intellectuals, industrialists, female intellectuals and reformers, making a brief introduction of their experience and their poems. Section Two draws an outline of the historical prospect of GengZi incident that GengZi poetry reflects.In Chapter Three, the article emphatically analyses Hu Sijing and his works Lv Bei Ji. Section One introduces the experience of Hu Sijing and his writing. Section Two elaborates the content of Lv Bei Ji. It includes exposing the ugly nature of the Boxer Uprising, comparing the loyal righteous and fortitude such as Yuan Chang and Xu Jingcheng to the treacherous villains such as Gang Yi and Xu Tong and reflecting dark rule of the Qing Dynasty, and it also realistically recorded the invaders’plunder movement and adultery burning acts after the fall of Beijing, exposing the complex internal contradictions of the Qing government and expressing dissatisfaction for its rotten rule. Section Three analyses the status and value of Lv Bei Ji. The poetry has become a precious wealth of mirroring modern China’s national tragedy literature for the poet’s realistic spirit, deep patriotic feelings and strong sense of responsibility and the language and the allusions.In Chapter Four, the article comprehensively analyses the poets’sentiment and attitude when encountering GengZi incident based on the analysis of the poems. GengZi poetry reflects a deep sense of urgency, powerless sad psychological of calling for reform, inner balance resorting to comparing with previous generation and the feelings of guilt and self-accusation when facing GengZi incident.In Chapter Five, the article analyses the artistic characteristics of "GengZi poetic history". Section One mainly discusses the factually writing characteristics and realistic spirit of "GengZi poetic history". Section Two mainly analyses the artistic characteristics of the simplified word covers deep meanings and the style of Spring and Autumn Annals that "GengZi poetic history" incarnates. The style of Spring and Autumn Annals in GengZi poetry, in my opinion, concentrates on the approaches of "straightforward utterance without circumbendibus", ideological value and testimonies of "punishing evil, leading to goodness", concise and accurate words and paying attention to the points of the narrative structure.The appendix has two parts. The first one is the complement of GengZi poetry, whose amount is34poets’works based on Assembly of poems in Qing Dynasty and Continuation of SiKuQuanShu, which includes Mongolian poet Yan Qing’s poetry GengZiDuMenJiShiShi and192fragmented poems. The second one is the brief introduction of the poets of GengZi poetry, giving an analysis list of57poets’ material and their GengZi poetry that collected.
