On C-E Consecutive Interpretation Of CCTV Documentary Dunhuang

As a report on Chinese to English consecutive interpreting(C-E CI), this paper describes one CI task conducted by the author for the CCTV documentary Dunhuang. The author selects the first episode and the tenth episode of this documentary as the text objects of the case analysis. Through consecutive interpreting of documentary from Chinese to English, the author aims to discuss common difficulties that may arise in the process of consecutive interpretation of documentary as well as possible coping strategies and solutions.In this paper, the author makes a profound analysis on the whole process of this interpreting practice. In Chapter One, the paper focuses on pre-interpreting preparation stage, including the collection of background information, the production of glossary and prediction in advance;in Chapter Two,eleven typical examples are selected for further analysis from four perspectives. Finally, the author discusses strategies for the problems, pointing out the inadequacies existing in the process of consecutive interpretation practice, and makes a summary of the whole report.It is hoped that some cases and coping strategies in this paper can be helpful for the future interpretation learners as well as scholars in the field of interpretation.
