The young people is a special social group. They are creating their own culture every day. The language terms they use has many unique characteristics like recreation, novelty and so on. It has got widespread attention in the society. Since the youth is new leading generation for social development, understanding their language feature is of great significance for interpreting the psychology of youth culture and the change trend of language with the social development.China and Japan are neighboring countries. They are inextricably linked in culture since ancient times. Nowadays, the young people’s terms of the two countries are both under fast developing. For understanding its development and relations between the two countries, this paper uses statistical measurement methods to analyze and classify young people’s terms, and do exploration from the aspects of language features, word formation and cultural psychology according to theories of contrastive linguistics.This paper includes five parts. First we clarify the significance of this research, present current status of researches and their drawbacks, then propose the perspective in this paper. Second we introduce the concept of youth people’s terms of Chinese and Japanese in related researches, and present the definition and various categories of it in this paper. The third part inspects the young people’s terms of China and Japan from aspects of word notation, language species, part of speech and word formation. Then, On the basis of characteristics found in this paper, the fourth part analyzes the cultural psychology of the young people. Finally, the last part presents our conclusion and future prospects.According to our analysis, the young people’s terms of the two countries have rich forms in word notation, language species and part of speech. From the view of word formation, although there exist some differences, but both of them have the characteristics of pursuing interestingness, concealment and highlighting individuality and simplification. These characteristics reflect the cultural psychology of advocating western culture, group consciousness and reverse psychology in the youth group of the two countries.
