Although it is not so splendid and developed as the dance in Han and Tang dynasties and so stringent and formal as the dance in Song and Yuan dynasties, the dance in Ming and Qing dynasties was not on the decline because of the rise of classical opera.Instead,it has some new changes. There are a large number of the poems with regards to dance in Ming and Qing dynasties, which was regarded as “The Poetry of Music and Dance” by former researchers. While according to my point of view,I think we might as well name it as "The Poetry of Dance",which means the poems describing the art of dance.According to the three types of dance in Ming and Qing dynasties,I would like to classify the“The Poetry of Dance”in the two dynasties into three parts:pure poems about dance、the poems concerning opera and Zhuzhici on dance. The number of pure poems about dance is limited and its artistic feature inherited the pomes of dance in Tang dynasty. As is known to us,it is the “describing stories in song and dance”that is the essence of Chinese classical opera,so the poems concerning opera get involved in the art of dance.Zhuzhici, which is the most of the three,is consisted of poems on folk dance and poems on foreign dance. Then it is my focus to do some research with regards to the value of poetry of dance in Ming and Qing dynasties form the historical and literary point of view. The innovation of my thesis lies in studying the poetry of dance in Ming and Qing dynasties in the interdisciplinary perspective, combining dance、folklore and local topology.Humble as I am,I hope that I will fill the vacant position in the research of this field.
