The report is drawn up for the purpose of translating Chapter One of BrianMcNair’s work Cultural Chaos: Journalism, News and Power in a Globalised Worldinto Chinese. Judging by the title of the chapter Cultural Chaos and the Globailsation ofJournalism, one can readily find its focus is nothing but observation of the culturalchaos and current situation of journalism in the era of globalization. The translationreport proceeds as follows: Part One is the project components, including the projectbackground, translation objectives and significance and layout of the report, Part Twoserves as an introduction to the Source Text which consists of the introduction to theauthor, the contents of the Source Text and an analysis of the Source Text, Part Threeexamines the translation process, including the translator’s preparation, and difficultiesmet and translation methodologies employed during the process, and Part Four is theconclusion that is composed of, apart from the translator’s experiences, lessons drawnfrom carrying out of the project. The attempt of informative text into translation isintended to provide some reference for the similar practice. |
