Theory Of Zhang Diaoyuan And His Works

Zhang Diaoyuan was born in Qianlong period, and lived mainly between Jiaqingand Qianlong periods. As a writer of Tongcheng school, he had a great achievement onSinology. Most important of all, he brought rigorous textual research of sinologist toancient prose, and “Ancient prose method” to Sinology. For that time’s literary circles,Zhang Diaoyuan was a particular one.Although his accomplishment on literature andscholarism was not outstanding, he was important to coalescence of Han and Songschools. Before, there were no school pay much attention to Zhang Diaoyuan, it’s a pityfor the literary study. This paper takes research status and value of Zhang Diaoyuan asentry point, first, describes his lifetime and social intercourse. Second, mainly analyseshis two textual research works, and summarizes his writing technique which usingtextual research ways. Third, introduces his other works. Finally, summarizes hiscontribution and achievement to the Qing dynasty literary world, especially to theintegrating of Han and Song schools.
