In the1930s, a series of researching articles on ShiTao written by Mr Fu Baoshi came into being, made modem ShiTao researches officially set off. So far, the researches of ShiTao have achieved remarkable results, and they are going deeper. The researches towards ShiTao of many researchers mainly concentrate on his birth and death years, the traces of visiting and travelling, artistic achievement, and the of book "HuaYuLu" that embodied his academic thought. Taking over ShiTao’s calligraphy as the research object, my the paper expounds the characteristics of calligraphy, the relationship between the calligraphy and painting and the formative causes of the calligraphic landscape.Being artistically innovative, daring to break through the bondage of the rules of arts, Shi Tao emphasized on the thought of "I use my method". Nowadays, of all the visible calligraphy of ShiTao, there are all kinds of fonts are visible, and they also appeared a variety of confounding fonts. Under the influence of epigraphy in the early qing dynasty, the tendency of his calligraphy tends toboundless and block styles,which turns up the epigraphic charm of simplicity and antiquity.His calligraphic works mostly in the inscription of painting, the artistic stylesof the calligraphy are described fully in the inscription of the painting. Inscriptions had been quite mature by the period of the Qing Dynasty. Because he was good at poetry, we need not surprise at every his painting followed by inscriptions. His painting and calligraphic works rich in the performing of calligraphic innk, he paid highly attention to the styles of calligraphy and painting in the same picture consistently. So in his paintings, inscription-calligraphy and the picture are always very harmonious, and his painting also has certain restriction with the inscription.At the beginning of the qing dynasty, the gallery of calligraphy taked over the study of note of Ming dynasty, meanwhile continuing to develop. At the same time, the gallery of calligraphy emerge into a wave of imitating the tablet of Qin and Han Dynasties, which gradually made tablet calligraphy come into being. The calligraphy of ShiTao has a style of its own by inheriting absorbing into the nutrition of the notes and tablets of the Qin and Han Dynasties, Wei, Sui and Tang Dynasties, the four famous calligraphic writers of Song Dynasty, the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, which was full of a variety of features.
