Han Bangqing’s Hai Shang Hua Lie Zhuan is the representative works of Suzhou dialeet of Qing dynasty. Hai Shang Hua Lie Zhuan is regarded as being the first masterpiece of Wu dialect literature. This article uses this novel as the research material. First of all, we search all the colloquial words in this book using the method of looking for sources of words with the help of large colloquial words dictionaries, slang word reference books and other research results. According to the semantic content of every slang word, we divide the main body and core of the thesis into five parts:appellation; basic necessities of life; social life; spiritual life; universe and others. We also divided each category into several small classes. Next, describe every word according to the422words’meaning category. The order arrangement for every word basically carried out in accordance with the semantic classification. The word which has many meanings is classified according to the first meaning. We explain the meaning mainly based on the documentary evidence provided in the novel. We investigate literature materials to confirm during Ming and Qing dynasties as much as possible, in order to obtain more abundant perceptual materials and correct meaning. Each word listed in the article is contrasted with the dictionary one by one and compared with other literatures. For the words that not collected in the dictionary we do the written instructions, which purpose is to illustrate that the research for the modern Chinese vocabulary has many white space at present. We need work hard to study it.Final, using the theory and research methods of social linguistics, select the row of colloquial words and form new slang words as the object of study. Put the social class as the argument, the number of all kinds of words as the dependent variable. Through the statistics, we can reveal the relationship between social class and word usage.
