Social anxiety is common for high school students. Yet most parents and teacherstended to care more about students’ academic achievements rather than their social anxietydisorders, facing the stress of entering a higher school. Besides, people with social anxietywere usually shy and aloof with strangers, which made them adverse in searching forothers’ help. Negative effects may work on students’ academic achievements and mentalhealth if high school students’ social anxiety problems were not efficiently solved. That isto say, intervention to high school students’ social anxiety is both necessary andmeaningful.With a self-built scale, this paper tried to describe the current situation of high schoolstudents’ social anxiety, and explore the relationship between particular background factorsand their social anxiety. In this experiment,6high school students were chosen from ascreening to students with social anxiety problems, and3were in control group,3were inexperimental group. This research uses the cognitive behavior modification strategies intreating experimental group with social anxiety problems with an intervention for15times.Tests basing on the scale were done every time before and after the intervention.Conclusions were below:(1)Social anxiety scale for high school students has highly reliability and validity.(2)High school students had lower scores than average in social anxiety level. Highschool students generallydid not have some social anxiety problems.(3)Background factors had significant differences in influencing high schoolstudents’ social anxiety. Girls, non-only children, non-cadre students, senior students, andstudents who were from village or town, whose parents were less educated or indisadvantageous place in economy had a higher social anxiety level. While democraticparenting pattern and harmonious family model contributed to a lower social anxiety level.(4)Variables as background factors had significant influence on high schoolstudents’ social anxiety. (5)Cognitive behavior strategies can dramatically lower the high school students’social anxiety level.
