From the year Kagemune Yuanhao captured Liangzhou until the Yuan Mongol armies stormed Xiliang House in the period of Xian Zong Dewang, Xixia ruled in Liangzhou for nearly two hundred years,during which time, Liangzhou was promoted to Xiliang House as the auxiliary county of Xixia with a higher political status.Liangzhou occupied a very important position in the economic,military,cultural, religious and other aspects because of its unique geographical advantages and the long historical precipitation.In addition,Xixia rulers supported the Buddhism vigorously who built Buddhist temples widely and translated a large number of Buddhist scriptures and adopted a tolerant and absorption attitude towards Buddhist sectarian.These measures brought a good development for Liangzhou Buddhism in the succession of the previous generation.First of all,this thesis introduces the background information of Xixia and Liangzhou hoping for laying the groundwork for the later chapters by means of sorting out the occupation and management of Xixia in Liangzhou and the original Buddhist foundation there.And then,this thesis analyzes Xixia cultural relics unearthed in Wuwei in order to illustrate the situation of Liangzhou Buddhist in Xixia from three aspects which are monks and their management agencies, the translation of Buddhist scriptures and circulation and the Buddhist sects situation hoping to do a better and more comprehensive interpretation of Liangzhou Buddhist in Xixia.In the end, this thesis explaines the situation of Liangzhou Buddhist in Xixia more fully by way of its performance in social life which is called secularization.
