The Wood Carving majority of the current situation in China is still a fairy tale or folk life characters as a theme, with a strong decorative, most of the works or part of the traditional arts and crafts areas. Only a handful of artists and art institutions, students try new Wood Carving performance. Carvings of the few who appears only in the expression of the object has changed, the choice of wood materials as a traditional media use. Presented visual information is still the old, not the same theme changes. The wood material the use of language in the device works, there is little used in the creation of Wood Carving.Wood Carving performance in China is still difficult, the more successful cases has not been found. Foreign contemporary art, there have been relatively good figure carvings. Not only do they have a strong contemporary concept, with new discoveries and changes in the formal language and woodcarving use of language. In this paper, through the analysis of figurative sculpture, comb, and the special language of the wood material, combined with the outstanding foreign figures carvings case analysis, looking like Wood Carving presented the new changes in the contemporary art issued. This article also describes the psychological change my artistic creation, to learn from foreign contemporary the outstanding wooden figures works and the essence of the traditional wood, as well as personal aesthetic is how to reflect in the products. Trying to figure carvings personal characteristics through the practice of creative, looking for new possibilities.
