Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties is not only a period that the most frequent political power changes in Chinese history, but also an age of turbulence in the history of our country with the great migration and large integration. During this period, a large number of people in the north migrate into the Wu area, the northern dialect which they speak comes into contact with Wu dialect and they must influence each other and penetration. In view of this, this article takes Wu dialect as our research subject.This article mainly studies the pronunciation and vocabulary of Wu dialect in this period. In the phonetic aspects, article mainly analyses the rhymes in the works of writers from the Wu area. Based on the achievements of research of Luo Chang-pei, Zhou Zu-mo, Lu Guo-yao, Li Shu-hao and so on, we define the geographical administrative division of Wu. According to the biographies and records in the ancient books, such as China Names Dictionary, History of Chinese immigration and China’s Population History, we confirm eighty-eight writers of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties in Wu.After we gather the poetries and verses of the eighty-eight writers of Wu from Quan shanggu sandai qinhan sanguo liuchao wen, Pro-qin Han Weijin southern and northern dynasties poems, Ancient Ballad proverbs. Then we clarify the rhymes used by these writers and compare them with those in the poetry rhyme in Qin and Han dynasties as well as within Tang dynasties. In vocabulary, this article tries to do a research on the vocabulary of Wu dialect in the writings and their annotations of Wu writers. The research mainly makes from the following aspects, such as lexical structure, the scope of application of words, the evolution and development of the meaning of words and so on. Through these, the paper displays the words’general appearance of Wu dialect in this time.
