In ancient China, some men poets wrote articles in women’s voice to express their emotion and ambition. Shen Congwen’s novels were also proficient in that. Shen Congwen suffered from the inferiority and anguish in the city, so that he dreamed back to Xiangxi. Due to the worship to the female influenced by the Anima prototype, he was interested in building female characters. From then on, he didn’t feel himself inferior. His Xiangxi novels had the basic characteristics of "Men Wrote Articles in Women’s Voice". And some important women characters in his novels were endowed with the most important pursuit of life and aesthetic ideal, which also acted as a hidden spokesperson of his feelings and emotions. If we want to understand the real Shen Congwen, we should uncover the mystery behind the creation of the image of women.This thesis is divided into five parts to prove the viewpoint. The first chapter is the introduction of the thesis. It is to clarify the reason for the study of Shen Congwen as the object of research. It also tells the ideas and research methods, and the meaning and value of the study.The second chapter explains the concept, the history of the evolution and the classification of the ancient "Men Wrote Articles in Women’s Voice". And it explains the modern interpretation and influence of it, too.The third chapter concerns the mental process of Shen Congwen’ choosing "Men Wrote Articles in Women’s Voice" as his creative motivation from a psychological perspective.Chapter four is the body part. It analyzes the overall outlook and characteristics of the building of female characters from three aspects, corresponding to the ancient " Men Wrote Articles in Women’s Voice".The last part is the conclusion, a brief summary of the full text.
