From the perspective of the folk ethics, this paper mainly studies these marginalized characters in Shen Congwen and Xiao Hong’s novels:child bride, mother and bandit. From the surface, the folk ethics of remote Hulan River is full of original bloody insinuation in the northeast corner, and Xiangxi local folk ethics is a layer of the veil which is full of tender feelings. In fact, there is no substantial difference between the two folk ethics. No matter they suffered from violence or soft violence, child brides in northeast and Xiangxi both continued the tragic fates. Folk ethics popular in a particular period of Xiangxi makes mother’s image is more rich in traditional culture’s temperament, and lack of northeast mother’s rebellious characteristics. The mother in Shen Congwen’s novels seemingly is weak and moderate, but they stick with incomplete family and play an important supporting role in an unbalance family structure. But the mother in Xiao Hong’s novels is often described as the "running away" woman, they seem rude and indifference, but still in another way to fulfill motherhood, also showed a tenacious sense of life. In addition, the bandit image in the two writers’ novels is also very worthy of attention. The building of a positive image of the bandit under specific historical context reflects their common expectation for folk positive values.
