This is a translation project report on World History Encyclopedia, Era3: Classical Traditions,1000BCE-300CE, Part Ⅰ&Ⅱ Excerpt by William E. Mierse&Kevin McGeough. The source text mainly concerns the introduction of classical traditions in Europe, Africa, Asia and America,1000BCE-300CE. This report is divided into four parts:Part One introduces the background of the translation project, including project resource, the importance of the project and the structure of the report. Part Two represents the source text on the whole, including the author, edition, main context and the analysis of the context. Part Three is about the quality control of the translation, including translation difficulties, the selection and description of translation theory and the method, the use of the theory and method, the solving of the problems. In this part, many translation difficulties have been solved under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. Part Four concludes the report, including translation implications, the lessons and unsolved problems in the translation project.
