In the twenty-first century, women’s political participation in thepolitical life of the world has become one of hot issues because ofdemocratization. Since the reform and open policy, great changetakes place in our country city and the city women actively seekopportunities of political participation, through various channels.They play an important role in economic and social developmentHowever, the research into women’s political participation seems beinsufficient. Therefore, it’s very important to pay attention to citywomen’s political participation status and demands.In this thesis, the author made a great deal of preparatory work.To get first hand information, the author investigate city female group.This is the biggest bright spot. The author takes empiricaldemonstration method , designs a report on the our country citywomen’s political participation issues, gives out 524 investigationquestionnaire which are filled in by various classes of femalemembers in Lanzhou City. The paper uses political science theory andmethod to explores the subjective and objective reasons of citywomen’s political participation .In addition, the author also reviewed a considerable number of references and keeping up with the timesdevelopment. Finally a conclusion is obtained as follows: incontemporary China city women’s political participation is more andmore active. However, because of the city female politicalparticipation level between different classes is distinct, participationbehavior is non-standard, participation channel is imperfect, thewomen’s political participation is not balance. If the city woman’spolitical participation can develop healthily and orderly, it willpromote Chinese political democratization and the harmonioussociety construction. This requires the joint efforts of governmentand society. The public and government can change traditionalpolitical culture concept, improve the political participation system;broaden the channels of political participation and Let the citywomen as important component of political participation.The whole passage covers five chapters. The first chapter isintroduction. It elaborated the background, significance of the topic,serious literature on domestic and foreign political participation, andproposes the research ideas, methods and innovation. The secondchapter is our country city women political participation theoryexplanation. This chapter defines the concepts, classification,characteristics and significance of political participation. The thirdchapter analyzes the current situation of city women’s politicalparticipation with Lanzhou city as an example for questionnaire. Thefourth chapter is about the problems and causes of the city femalepolitical participation. The fifth chapter is to find out thecountermeasures. This is the key chapter of this paper, because, it isthe root meaning of city women’s political participation to find a path to make political participation orderly.
