Since the beginning of the21st century, the activities of human industrialization and urbanization is being increasingly frequent, with the intensive growth of the city center population, some industrial enterprises began to migrate to suburban, industrial activities began to gather in town. From the perspectives of climate change, environmental pollution, urban development, biodiversity, it can be found that ecological environment has suffered serious damage in county and town. This thesis by analyzing the domestic and international eco-town researches and planning theories, it can be found that necessity for urban construction in China’s suburban districts near metropolitan and problems during planning eco-town process. Based on ecology and eco-town planning as a case of Jinnan District, the extensive collection of literatures and examples, analyzing research deeply, and building a research framework.Structurally, this thesis is divided into six chapters:the first chapter is an introduction mainly looking for the argument basis of this study and an analysis of the research background, determination the research contents and methods. The second chapter is about research advances domestic and overseas, including the pre-period, the exploration period, the formation period and the mature period. The achievement of domestic eco-towns development and the gap between China and foreign countries. The third chapter discusses the ecological theories of urban regional planning, including eco-towns concept, meaning, and development trends, the scope of ecology theoretical foundation, regional planning and research trends, the research contents and methods of the service and support function providing by counties towards city in eco-town planning, showing the different points of eco-town planning for different eco-towns, providing a theoretical basis for ecological planning for the metropolitan surrounding counties. The sixth chapter was selected Jinnan District as a study case, and building the overall plan on Jinnan eco-town planning. The fifth chapter planned two towns with different functions for metropolitan and surrounding counties to provide strong technical support. The sixth chapter is the full text of the main conclusions, pointing out the shortages and future of work prospects.
