Yangzhou woodblock printing dated from the Tang Dynasty, developed in the Song, Yuan, Ming Dynasty and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. Thousands of years, woodblock printing craftsmen from generation to generation had carved too numerous fine sculptures to mention.In June2006, Yangzhou woodblock printing technique was listed in our first batch of national non-material cultural heritage items as traditional craftsmanship. September30th,2009, it was approved by the UNESCO to be listed among the representative works of human non-material cultural heritage. As one traditional craftsmanship heritage protection unit, Yangzhou Guangling ancient engraving community which was founded in the end of the1950s, has continued with the traditional woodblock printing process, and retained a full set of manual processes of the ancient wire-bound book binding.The research in the past and present of Yangzhou woodblock printing technique has provided an individual case thinking in the study of traditional manual heritage and the road of rejuvenation.
