The safety incidents of agricultural products happen frequently recently, which make it essential to establish an efficient traceability system of agricultural products. Based on studies and experience on traceability system for quality and safety of agricultural products both in China and abroad as well as actual production and circulation of vegetables in Hangzhou. In this study a traceability system was constructed for quality and safety of vegetables with research on methods of traceability coding and relative traceability technology aiming at an effective management of vegetables’production and supply chain in Hangzhou. The main conclusions go as follows:Firstly, this paper designed a traceability system for quality and safety of vegetables with three-level network system based on origin export limitation, which included five subsystems including origin export limitation system, the wholesale market system, retail market system, data center of Hangzhou and its counties. The quality and safety of vegetables could be ensured from the vegetable origin using the design on origin export limitation, namely only vegetables with qualified detection can be labeled with traceability code. Meanwhile, it used Internet or private network, RFID dual frequency card and bar code label as identity technologies and information carriers:internet or private network for the information exchange between the subsystems and data center of city or county;RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Devices) dual frequency card containing basic information of cards owners and basic trading information for reading vegetables’information when trading; bar code label containing traceability code, pasted in vegetable packaging indicating that the vegetables can be traded and corresponding to information within RFID dual-frequency card. Information carriers, database, information collection system and the detection system could build a complete traceability system for quality’and safety of vegetables to achieve a positive combination of regulation and traceability’ to vegetables. And then this paper improved the key point of traceability system, namely traceability code as well as coding system used, to realize the geographic position of farmland by enterprise organization code and farmland code. Quantity key can control the generation of traceability code, and multifunctional electric platform scale can control the number of tags. Finally, this paper conducted the research on the geographical origin traceability of vegetables based on mineral elements analysis technology. The research sampled potherb mustard from three different origins, namely Cangqian Town Yuhang District, Datong Town Jiande County in Hangzhou and Liuzao Town Nanhui District in Shanghai as research object, and applied analysis of variance (ANOVA), discriminant analysis, principal component analysis (PCA) and clustering analysis of twelve minerals in samples of potherb mustard, viz. Na, Al, Ca, V, Mn, Co, Ni, Zn, Ag, Cd, Ba and Pb. The results showed that by using ANOVA of Mn, Cd, Ba and Pb, it was possible to identify the origins of the samples. After using the data of nine minerals to establish Bayes discriminant equation, it can be concluded that the discrimination accuracies obtained by initial and cross-validation both are100%whereas cross-validation only reaches8.3%accuracies when conducting discriminant analysis of different fields in same origin, which showed that discriminant model based on mineral content of potherb mustard from different origin could accurately identify the origin, and the accuracies of cross-validation could tell if these unknown samples come from a known geographical origin. Using aforementioned nine minerals to conduct Clustering Analysis directly or after Principal Component Analysis attained the conclusion that a combination of CA and PCA was superior to a direct cluster analysis.
