Energetic gunpowders plastified by traditional rolling technology had low plasticizing efficiency and poor plasticizing quality which influenced their applications largely. In order to improve its plasticizing efficiency and quality, continuous shearing rolling machine was used to plasticize the high nitrogen single base propellant and energetic modified double base propellants, and the mechanism and the plasticization properties were studied in the paper. The main research work and the conclusions were followings:1. By analyzing the plasticizing mechanism theoretically, it can be known that when the gunpowder materials were sheared between the two rollers of the continuous shearing rolling machine, the materials were changed to be plasticized gunpowders that were more plastic after solvent process, swelling process and the dissolution process; the plasticizing capacity Qw of continuous shearing rolling machine was proportional to DW,T,n and so on, and theory formula of Qw was Qw=C·Dw·T·n·sinθ·cosθ·Qw. The factors containing degree of polymerization (n), nitrogen content (N%), and viscosity (η) of NC, was also having an important influence on shearing rolling plasticizing.2. The high nitrogen single base propellant and energetic modified double base propellant were plastified by the twin helix continuous shearing rolling plasticizing machine, and contrasted them with common plasticized gunpowders. The maximum pressure of the single base plasticized propellant which was sheared rolling was231.11MPa and was lower than common plasticized gunpowder; the former compression rate was41%, which was lower than the latter too.The moisture content and solid content of energetic modified double base propellant materials had an important influence on sticking plasticizing effect. Temperature increased1.67℃when moisture content increased1%, and the sticking plasticizing effect of materials was getting better and better when moisture content gradually increased from15.3%to33.4%. The higher the solids content was, the worse the sticking plasticizing effect was, and the problem can be solved by reducing the moisture or improving the rollers temperature. The test results showed that when solids content were25%, the sticking plasticizing effect of the materials containing25%moisture content was better than27.6%and33.7%; as solids content were40%, the sticking plasticizing effect at the rollers temperature of137℃was better than130℃.3. SEM and DSC were used to study the plasticization properties of the high nitrogen single base propellant and energetic modified double base propellants. The SEM map showed that compared to the common plasticized gunpowders, show shear rolling plasticizing gunpowders’s surface was smooth and didn’t have white spots. The plasticity of energetic modified double base propellant was calculated by the formula that was ε=ΔH1/(ΔH1+ΔH2) quantificationally. The plasticity of shearing rolling plasticized propellants was51.62%, and the one of common plasticized propellant was26.67%.
