Motorcycle rear shock absorbers is one of the key spare part of motorcycle rearsuspension,bears the most weight of the vehicle and moderats the shock from the rear wheelalong with rear suspension,and enhances driving comfort.It also reduces each spare partdynamic stress to slow down the fatigue lifetime and be used to enhance the tyre adhesiveattraction.In order to implement force moderation and driver’ vibration attenuation,it mustcontrol a important indexe,that is damping characteristic.It comes out of the researches onthe factors which affect the damping characteristic.The researches both here andabroad only on the motorcycle damping characteristic are not so many,but researches onthe automobile are well-rounded. The design of the damping parameters in the traditionalsense has failed to meet the actual demand, at this stagem,using computer simulation aideddesign is an inevitable trend.This paper focuses on the source and background of the subject,firstly describ thestatus of the mathematical modeling of the shock absorber damping characteristics and itstesting techniques. And take SDH125motorcycle rear shock absorber as the object of study,combined with the shock absorber assembly drawings and part drawings, map out athree-dimensional solid model to learn more about the various components and structuralcharacteristics of the shock absorber,and introduce the internal structure of shock absorberand the working principle of damping force works in-depth.Then model themathematicalthe of shock absorber damping characteristics,and simulate the mathematicalmodel in Matlab/Simulink environment.In this paper,it also build a dynamometer test rig only for motorcycle rear shockabsorber damping characteristics with rapid clamping combinated with domestic andforeign advanced technology and the use of computer control technology.Then test theSDH125type rear shock absorber motorcycle in the test standards required by thedynamometer test rig. Finally, analyze and compare between the shock absorber test resultsand simulation results,discuss other factors effect the shock absorber dampingcharacteristics beside the structural parameters, and analyze the reliability of mathematicalmodeling in this paper.
