In recent years, orbital space has been the competitive focus of every nation withstrong military power. In order to realize the true sense of the Air and Space Integrationand obtain the most complete battlefield information in the shortest time, every countryare scrambling to start their research programs which explore and occupy the orbitalspace. Due to the harsh environment of orbital space and the high cost of astronautstraining, with the rapid development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology,the UAV has gradually become the best choice for those who want to dominate the orbitspace.The3D visual simulation system realizes the visualization of UAV flight scene, itcan display the flight attitude along with the surrounding environment of a UAV andprovide an intuitive and simple way to analyze both the emulational flight attitude andthe route planning. The3D visual simulation system is essential all through themanufacture, formative and service stage of UAV. Here, a new3D visual simulationsystem is developed in this dissertation to meet the demand of one of our country’simportant Space UAV rail aircraft program.This dissertation mainly discusses a3D visual simulation engine based on DirectXinterface for orbital space UAV, the entire design process and the detailed steps ofprogramming are included. This3D visual simulation engine achieved vector matrixmath library, static intersection detection library, thread controlling library, keyboardand mouse inputting system, scene management system, graphic resource managementsystem, model resource management system,2D word rendering system and3D graphrendering system one after another which was coded by C++language from the bottomto top. Besides, the3D surrounding sound processing system is designed to enhance therealism of the visual simulation. This engine supports3D model files in OBJ format,while quick scene information query and real-time HUD display are achieved bysuperimposing2D fonts to3D scene and applying mouse picking technology on3Dobjects. Real-time shadow, dynamic environment reflex, motion blur, HDR and Bloomrendering effects based on Direct3D9.0GPU’s programmable shader technology make the visual effect of simulation more closer to reality.Simulation test shows that3D models can be easily imported into this3D visualsimulation system, so, UAV aircraft model, space orbit model, solar system objectsmodel can be quickly loaded into this system to perform the real-time animationrendering. The octree scene cull algorithm which specially designed for the space orbitenvironment improves the3D scene rendering efficiency, while it also dramaticallylower the hardware requirements. Those advance3D rendering effects significantlyimprove the realism of the visual simulation.
