Compared with the traditional vehicles which are driven by the combustion engines, the electrical vehicles (EV) have obvious advantages. Firstly, the efficiency of electromotor is about90%or above but the corresponding value of the combustion engine is30-40%, less than half of the former one. Secondly, the electrical energy consumed by the EVs can be classified among the clean energy if it’s converted from the renewable resources. So nowadays it is widely recognized that EVs can operates in a sustainable way and EV is the feasible method to face the challenge induced by the higher price and progressive shortage of oil. Therefore the relative technologies around the EV become the hot research points in these days.EV charger plays very important roles in the use of EV. It’s not only the energy converter devices but also an information exchange unit. Generally EV charging and discharging processes have very compact relationship with the power grid. Accordingly the control and monitor subsystem of the EV charger is brought out and designed to implement the following four main functions:energy measurement and charging unit, human interface approach, charger operation security monitoring unit, communication unit.The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the design process of the DC charger control and monitor subsystem. FPGA is taken as the core of the control part. All the raw data, such as the environment temperature in the charger cabinet, the electrical energy consuming amount, some relative information required by the management of charging process, are firstly input into the FPGA. And FPGA output information will be displayed in the touch screen or sent to upper control centers through CAN network or wireless LAN. Digital temperature sensor is used to measure the environment temperature, and the electrical energy consuming data is also measured and calculated by the special electrical chip.The configuration of this thesis is organized as the following. The whole construction of the monitoring system of the DC charger is introduced firstly. After the detailed presentation of SOPC (System on Programmable Chip) in chapter2, which is the core of control part, the design and realization of each sub-module is discussed in the following chapters. In chapter3, the electrical power amount measurement method is described in detail. Chapter4and5discuss the design of the security monitoring system and communication module. In the chapter6, the design process of the human interface is presented. The last part some experiment results are given to prove the exactness of above design methods.
