ODU (Out Door Unit) is one of the main equipment in satellite communication system earth station. In the satellite communications link, the ODU can be considered as the satellite signal transceiver. Currently China Civil Aviation C-Band Telephony Earth Station systems are all use foreign ODU equipment products which dependent on imports. This dissertation aims to design the ODU RF unit monitor and control system(M&C).At the very beginning, the dissertation introduced the origin and development situation of the subject, and raised an issue of mission and goles. After the briefly introducing the principle of ODU RF unit, the hardware structure of monitor and control system was analyzed and discussed, as well as the design principle and the specific implementation scheme based on Field-Programmable Gate Array. And then the design of various parts of the hardware circuit and the usage of the devices's characteristics were described. According to the focus and difficulties in design, the dissertation expatiated the FPGA data stream processing, and control logic of analog sampling circuit, and logic design of voltage controlled oscillator, and on-chip memory programme. And the communication module between computer and control system was also involved in discussing. In addition, the debugging between and PC software were briefly described. At last the issues of debugging with solutions were summarized.ODU control system used fully developed electronic components combined with FPGA to complete design. It was low cost, and small board size, and easy to implement secondary development requirements such as program upgrades and custom features. After simulation, hardware independent debugging, hardware and software co-debugging, equipment overall debugging, the result shown that the control system can control and monitoring the ODU under the PC software, which meet the design targets requirements. The system has been applied.
