Abdominal Acupuncture Combined With Body Acupuncture Clinical Observation For The Treatment Of Post-stroke Hiccups

Purpose: By observing the clinical efficacy of abdominal acupuncture combinedwith body acupuncture in the treatment of stroke after hiccup, to show theeffectiveness and advantages of hiccups abdominal acupuncture combined with thebody acupuncture treatment for stroke after hiccup, Using completely randomizeddesign method consist of the treatment group and the control group.Material and method:60cases of stroke after hiccup patients who met thecriteria were recruited at the outpatient of Liaoning University of TraditionalChinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital from October2010to October2011. Allpatients were randomly divided into abdominal acupuncture combined with bodyacupuncture group (treatment group) and body acupuncture group (control group).The treatment group,30patients, including21males and9females, the youngest41years old,the oldest82years old, The average62±11.2years old, courseof disease was2-4days, the average course of disease was3.2days, were treatedby abdominal acupuncture combined with body acupuncture; The control group,30patients, including18males and12females, the youngest43years old,the oldest78years old, The average62±9.4years old, course of disease was2-4days,the average course of disease was3.16days, were treated by body acupuncture.Both of the two groups were treated for three days, and observed degree ofremission in patients with hiccups symptoms after treatment.Results:1. Hiccup symptoms before and after treatment showed significant improvement.The treatment group,22cases were cured,7cases effective and1case ineffective,the total efficiency was96.67%.The control group,18cases were cured,6cases effective and6case ineffective, the total efficiency was80%.The differencebetween the two groups had statistical significance(P＜0.05).So the abdominalacupuncture combined with body acupuncture treatment and simple body acupuncturetreatment could significantly improve the symptoms of patients with hiccupsafter stroke, but the efficacy of abdominal acupuncture combined with bodyacupuncture was better.2. Two weeks after the end of treatment follow-up, patients were efficacy andstability, cured patients were without recurrence.Conclusion：Acupuncture treatment have significant clinical efficacy in thehiccups after stroke, but the efficacy of abdominal acupuncture combined withbody acupuncture was much better than acupuncture only.
