Study of the combination of scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture in treating acute ische-mic stroke patients with Broca aphasia.Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of combination of scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture in treating acute ischemic stroke patients with Broca aphasia.Methods:60 acute ischemic stroke patients with Broca aphasia matched were allocated rand-omly into two groups.They are observation group with 30 patients and control group with 30 patients.Patients in control group received standard western medicine therapeutics and speech therapeutics,while those in observation groups received scalp acupuncture and body cupunct-upuncture according to differentiation,in addition to the standard therapeutics.The principal of acupuncture treatment is promoting circulation,waking up and facilitating speaking.The acup-uncture point was prepared according to long-term experience of our department. We usually differentiates patients into five subtypes:Deficiency of Qi,Excess of Yang,phlegm-wind, Def-iciency of Yin,and phlegm-fire.The changes of Chinese language aphasia,the integral calculus of Neurological functions(NIHSS),Chinese medicine syndromes,and between two groups as well.The distribution of Chinese syndrome among all recruited patients were analyzed as we-ll.Results:â‘ Effect evaluation:After treatment,there are significantly more people in the observation group getting better than those in control group.â‘¡The spontaneous language speak score including vocal comprehensive ability, repeat ability and denomination ability in patients of both groups have improved significantly after treatment;the abilities of spontaneous language speak and repeat ability in patients of observation group after treatment are significantly better than those of control group.â‘¢The neurological scores:the neurological scoresas detected by the NIHSS evaluation in both groups are very significantly lower after treatment than those before treatment;those in observation group showed the tendency of higher reduction rate than the control group.In general Chinese medicine syndrome evaluation,both groups have relative improvement rate in facial expression,appetite,stool and tongue expression after treatment.The improvement rate of stool in observation group is significant than that in control group.â‘£The Chinese medicine differentiation:Aanalysis indicated that,the phlegm syndrome is the predominant,account for 73.3%,including the phlegm-fire 30%,and phlegm-wind 43.3%,Qi deficiency accounts for 15%,Yang excess type accounts for 3.3%, Yin deficiency accounts for 8.3%.Conclusion:This study indicates that the combining therapy of scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture in more effective than conventional treatment in treating Broca phasia of acute ischemic stroke,with better improvement in language abilities.
